Another Game, Another Injury

I thought that maybe if I did not post about Dan Cleary going down with an injury last week, then maybe the horrid streak would end for the Wings. Unfortunately, that is not true. Rookie Jonathan Ericsson took a knee on knee hit from Shane Doan last night, and will be out a minimum two weeks. I am actually surprised it is so short; although it was a clean hit, the way Ericsson’s knee buckled was disturbing.

The Red Wings now have seven regulars out of the lineup, four of them being top six forwards; Franzen, Williams, Filppula, Cleary, Helm, Kronwall and Ericsson. They also have four forwards who are now playing regularly, but were not expected to coming into the season; Adbelkader, Eaves, Miller and Brad May. No wonder they are struggling.
