Wings @ Hawks for Banner Night

Although the schedule is going to be fully released tomorrow, news about team’s home openers has been trickling out today. The Red Wings will head to Chicago on the night that they raise the Stanley Cup banner (clear the cobwebs) at the United Center.

Expect whichever Hawks are even around at that time to get a quick reminder of the real Detroit Red Wings in that game. I’m sure it doesn’t sit well with many teams that they have to sit in their dressing room for close to half an hour while the other team celebrates on the ice, especially when that team is quickly becoming your new rival.

Eager vs Pronger

Ohhhh now I remember why I hate Chris Pronger.

For the second straight game, Chris Pronger retrieved the game puck when the buzzer sounded and the Blackhawks celebrated. When he was approached, Pronger shot a towel at Eager. Seems like childish games right? How about these retorts to the press in the post-game.

When asked about the towel incident, Pronger said “I don’t know, did I?,” answered Pronger. “Wow. You’re intuitive. Good for you. Next.” Jerk

Where was the game puck?  “It’s in the garbage,” Pronger replied. “Where it belongs.” Dick

About Eager’s response: “I don’t know. Apparently, it got him upset. So I guess it worked, didn’t it? It’s too bad. I guess little things amuse little minds.”

Pronger has actually grown on me a little bit this season, mainly for his always amusing interviews that he gives on the FAN where he spends most of the time making fun of the interviewers than actually answering questions. He is still a prick though.

You can bet that regardless of who wins Game 3 tonight, there is going to be a mad dash for the game puck at the buzzer.

Chelios’ HHOF Team

Great question posed over at “Red Wings Guy Dot Com”, which jersey will Chris Chelios wear in the Hall of Fame? While he did play the most seasons in Detroit and won two Cups there (and one in Montreal), I think it will definitely be Chicago. Not only is that his hometown but it is where he solidified his name as one of the best and fiercest competitors to ever play the game and won two of his three Norris Trophies. In fact, even as a Wings’ fan, when I think of Chelios, I think of him as #7 on Chicago.

Well with all that said below, you might wonder who I want the Wings to play in the first round. The answer to that is pretty simple right now, but is also probably the least likely to happen;….. Continue reading
