Mock Draft Results

Posted in Hockey Blogs with tags , , , , , , , , on June 28, 2010 by davepoleck

So in the end I did just ok in the Mock Draft from late last week. Out of the 30 first round picks, I only got five:

1. Taylor Hall (Edm)
2. Tyler Seguin (Bos)
3. Erik Gudbranson (Fla)
9. Mikael Granlund (Min)
26. Evgeny Kuznetsov (Wash)

Of the 30 picks, another five of mine weren’t even picked in the first round:

31. Tyler Pitlick (I had 23rd)
33. John McFarland (I had 29th)
36. Alexander Petrovic (30th)
38. Jon Merrill (25th)
49. Calvin Pickard (28th…ouch)

There is a contest on DobberHockey to guess where the free agents land starting Canada Day, so I will post those picks too.

Wings Will Pick Most Talented

The Red Wings longtime draft philosophy has been to draft the best player available, regardless of their position. Normally I can give a guess as to who they might pick, or at least what position; but after about the 7th overall pick, the prospects could go in any order. The field is that wide open.

Michael Ryder is on the block in Boston, Brendan Witt has been waived on the Island, and Ethan Moreau’s name has popped up as another potential exile from Edmonton.

The big story out today is that Don Waddell met with Ilya Kovalchuk to tell him to expect a trade within the coming days. Sources say that five teams are in the mix: Chicago, Boston, LA, New York and an unknown team. My guess is Colorado. With that said, here are the deals that I think would have to be put together for Ilya to go to any of these teams: Continue reading
