Shane Doan on Mantracker

Unbeknownst to me, Coyotes’ captain Shane Doan filmed an episode of Mantracker late last year! Shane’s brother Brook is supposedly a massive fan of the show and convinced Doan to apply for the show while he was off with an injury. Here is the preview that OLN gives:

As a member of Team Canada, hockey player and Phoenix Coyotes captain Shane Doan is used to gold, but this is a whole new challenge!  He and brother Brook face off against Mantracker and Sidekick Russ Floyd in Gold Bridge, BC, nestled high in the Chilcotin Mountains.  Will he take home a win this time, too?

Although I’m not really a fan of the show, this appearance is bordering on must see TV. Hopefully Doan and his bro will stick it to Mantracker and his stupid sidekick. The episode airs April 17 on OLN.

Doan Out, No Changes For Wings

Although it was rumoured a possibility yesterday, Shane Doan will not be in Phoenix’s lineup tonight after crashing into the boards and injuring his right shoulder midway through Game 3. Unfortunately for Detroit, the Coyotes used his absence as a rallying point and took over Game 3 after the injury. The Wings on the other hand, need to take advantage of the fact that Phoenix’s leader and most experienced player is not in the lineup tonight, and take it to them from the get-go.

I am kind of surprised by the fact that there will be no line changes for Detroit tonight. Trailing 3-1 in the 3rd, they moved Johan Franzen to a line with Zetterberg and Bertuzzi, and put Filppula with Datsyuk and Homer. The Zetterberg line responded with a goal on their first shift and one more that was waved off.

My only thinking is that Babcock wants to give Datsyuk some size on his line, thus keeping Franzen there. Pavel was absolutely dominated by 6’6″, 230 lbs Czech, Martin Hanzal in Game 3. Babcock better acknowledge this and use his ability to have last change to get the Datsyuk line going. But if things don’t go well tonight, I wouldn’t be surprised to see a Franzen-Datsyuk-Zetterberg group lineup for one of the few times this season.
