Holy Tim Thomas

Tim Thomas was awesome last night against the Capitals. He stopped 38 of 39 shots, 13 in each period including multiple cross crease saves (as seen above). He is now 4-0, with a 0.978 save percentage and 0.75 GAA!! And that is against some the League’s elite; Phoenix, New Jersey and Washington twice.

I think it’s safe to say that he has stolen the starting job back from Tuukka Rask.

The Saviour!

Ahh the Leafs

Not only did the Leafs lose again (in overtime…..again), but they watched as two of their former goaltenders recorded shutouts over the weekend. On Saturday afternoon, Tuukka Rask shutout the Oilers with 19 saves, and late Sunday night, former castaway Andrew Raycroft shutout the streaking Colorado Avalanche. While neither of them faced many shots, it is just fun for me to point something like this out when the Leafs are going through so much goaltending issues.

It is also funny that back in the day when the Leafs had the prospect tandem of both Rask and Justin Pogge, they decided to trade Rask (for Raycroft). Rask still remains one of the elite goalie prospects in the League, while Pogge was playing in the ECHL until JS Giguere was hurt.
